With the new year soon upon us, how many of you are thinking:
I want to lose weight, get in better shape, drink more water, meditate consistently, save more money, and take more vacations.
Then, by February, you feel like such a failure that you give up on everything.
It’s no wonder…
You’re trying to do everything, everywhere, all at once,
then you get overwhelmed and bail on all of it.
By March 1, three months later, you’re right back to where you were on January 1.
Instead, pick ONE thing to focus on first.
When you nail that process, and your new habit becomes second nature,
Then and only then, add another.
I suggest you start with either the easiest or the most fun.
Decide where to start.
Create a plan.
Implement your plan.
Celebrate that you took action.
Evaluate the action you took.
Correct course.
Take more action. (Or, as I like to say, wash, rinse, repeat.)
Do not forget to celebrate the action you’ve taken.
Acknowledge that it’s work to do something new & different.
Good for you for getting out there & doing it.
Personally, while I love the new year– it’s a great opportunity for a fresh start– I like to create better habits & routines all year long.
For years, I’ve been claiming “New Year’s Resolutions” all year long regarding anything I want to improve– why wait until January? I still start with only one thing.
I never quite understood the: in December, the rails come off, but in January, we’ll be on our best behavior.
It’s simply not sustainable and will not yield the results you want in 2024.
So, if you’d like to learn how to create a sustainable practice
If you’d like to make a roadmap for 2024 that includes wiggle room for pivots, surprises, and changes,
If you’d like to create an ‘adventure’ plan rather than a rigid, “must-be-followed” plan for 2024,
